U12 Started: successful performance by N. E. S CHESS WARRIORS and Chess Ecuador

Worldwide U12 Group A – Wednesday, September 9, 2020

First edition of Worldwide U12 was played today, featuring 8 divisions in three time zones, with 70 teams and 745 players. Worldwide U12 category is introduced as an upgrade for Worldwide U11 competition that was played up until August.

Chess Ecuador secured another double win, in Central and America Division. Team from Ecuador is very big, has lots of good players and there is always enough players available to play in different timing. “No Streak” mode, introduced alongside new U12 category, meant that difference between team score will be small, and indeed it was: СШ 2 Кстово (Kstovo, Russia) and Ajedrez en PERU ended up being tied for second place!! Only few points behind them were Brazilian Young Chess Team, Chess Chile escolar, Botvinnik Chess (Moscow, Russia) and Club Ferlonichess (Ciudad Del Este, Paraguay). Last three places left for Cuba Masters, Mexico Jovenes Promesas and ШШК-Челны, (Chelny, Russia), teams that will be relegated into Group B.

In Group B, best performance was by Ajedrez Educativo Primarias Rio Negro (Argentina). Closest to them were Chess-Mar (Morocco), and UEC CORONEL PRINGLES (Argentina), teams to be promoted in Group A. With only one more victory, Сборная Шахты (Russia), Cairo Chess Academy (Egypt) or “Бриллиант” (г.Кострома) (Kostroma, Russia) would have gained ticket for upper group. Lower groups saw many teams that could be promoted in higher ranks. Organisers will remove all teams that did not come, or came with insufficient number of players, to give chance to strong new teams coming in top division faster. New groups will be ready soon and published on web.

N. E. S CHESS WARRIORS (Marikina City, Philippines) scored first win in new U12 Eastern Division. They were last U11 winners and now became first U12 winners. Very, very close to them were Sharp Kids Online (Philippines) and ChessNut Academy (Solapur, India), tied for second place. Behind them came Chess Shoots Juniors (India), Школа МГ Кирякова (GM Kiriakov’s School, Krasnoyarsk, Russia), Этюд (Etud, Ekaterinburg, Russia), Уктусский гамбит (Ekaterinburg, Russia) and ШШК-Челны (Chelny, Russia).

Very intense last seconds of match, with three teams chasing each other:

Chess-Ecuador was best in América Division again, ahead of Cuba Masters and Veracruz México. Behind them came Chess Chile escolar, Ajedrez en PERU, Mexico Jovenes Promesas, ASEP_Chess Masters Team and Liga Cuauhtemoc-Mexico City.
